T.E.A.L.® is excited to announced its newest partnership with the Kelly Gynecological Oncology Service at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. T.E.A.L.® funded a $25,000 grant towards the Characterization of the Genomic Profile of BRCA Negative Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer, a study conducted at the University led by Dr. Kara Long.
Dr. Long’s study will evaluate increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer in women who do not test positive for the BRCA gene mutation. It is known that women who test positive for the BRCA mutation are at an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer, but the majority of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer do not have these gene mutations. There is still much work to be done in identifying genes and factors that cause ovarian cancer in the majority of those diagnosed, who are women who do not test positive for BRCA and have no identifiable BRCA mutation. T.E.A.L.® is thrilled to be a part of this cutting edge research. Stay tuned for updates on the project.
